I've been a Member of DA for a while now..

When I first came here, I viewed it as a website where I could upload my little creations, and enjoy others artwork.
A place to browse and learn techniques.

It is indeed a site to enjoy others work.

To be amazed at the talents of, so-called 'non-professional' Artists.

To wonder in awe at those that capture such great takes, using a camera!

To look and admire the life brought to an image, through the use of, brush, pencil, and numerous other mediums!

To stare open mouthed at the art created through computer programmes!

To sit and feel moved by the words used in poetic sounds and inspiring literature!

Indeed a great place to enjoy art!

Yet this is not all DA is about!
I have found that this site holds more.
It holds....
FRIENDSHIP!
KINDNESS!
ENCOURAGEMENT!

I'm not going to name my friends, they know who they are!
I just want them to know I appreciate them.

THANK YOU...Thank you for your support and continued friendships on and beyond DA!

OCTOBER 23 2007

Hello All

I hope everyone's well and ready for the cold weather! Brrrrrr

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting etc, but unfortunately I had a huge glitch! My PC died! EEEEEEEEEEK!
I've had to buy a new PC, and have had to re-install Progies, with the added annoyance of checking for Vista compatability!
NIGHTMARE!
Anyway...I can't catch up with all the incredible work I've missed, so I'll have to begin afresh!
I won't be able to be here much yet, but will try and keep up!

Thank you for all your wonderful comments, and understanding!
I STILL LOVE YOUR ART AND APPRECIATE ALL YOUR TALENTS AND HARD WORK!

JUST TO MAKE YA GIGGLE!

Words and poems you just wouldn't find on 'Cards for Occasions!'

My tire was thumping.

I thought it was flat

When I looked at the tire...

I noticed your cat.

Sorry!

Heard your wife left you,

How upset you must be.

But don't fret about it...

She moved in with me.

Looking back over the years

that we've been together,

I can't help but wonder...

"What the hell was I thinking?"

Congratulations on your wedding day!

Too bad no one likes your husband.

How could two people as beautiful as you

Have such an ugly baby?

I've always wanted to have

someone to hold, someone to love.

After having met you .

I've changed my mind.

I must admit, you brought Religion into my life.

I never believed in Hell until I met you.

As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am...

That you're not here to ruin it for me.

Congratulations on your promotion.

Before you go...

Would you like to take this knife out of my back?

You'll probably need it again.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Dad!

(Available only in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio & West Virginia)

Happy birthday! You look great for your age.

Almost Lifelike!

When we were together,

you always said you'd die for me.

Now that we've broken up,

I think it's time you kept your promise.

We have been friends for a very long time ..

let's say we stop?

I'm so miserable without you

it's almost like you're here.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.

Did you ever find out who the father was?

So your daughter's a hooker,
and it spoiled your day.

Look at the bright side,

it's really good pay!

TO MAKE YOU THINK!

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled and said, "I'm glad you asked."

The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem , there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend''.

According to Naomi Wolf, these ten simple steps have been followed by all history's fascist dictators and are being or have been implemented in America. A case could be made that these steps are also being pursued in the UK.

This list represents the condensed version of an article she wrote for The Guardian which can easily be found.

1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy

2. Create a gulag

3. Develop a thug caste

4. Set up an internal surveillance system

5. Harass citizens' groups

6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release

7. Target key individuals

8. Control the press

9. Dissent equals treason

10. Suspend the rule of law

I decided to move away from the 10 idea...and just randomly pick images!
I'll include others another time.

In no particular order....
